Currently talking up his ninth album release, Mark Lucas is an old-school troubadour, an observer of life who employs a deft turn of phrase tempered by a dry wit.
Sydney based but originally from rural England, new album “Little Town Blues” (Laughing Outlaw Records LOR174CD), co-produced with Brendan Gallagher (Karma County, Jimmy Little), sees Mark Lucas step out from in front of long-time backing band the Dead Setters to work a distinctly personal seam, drawing from both the confessional and the observational.
Some call it Americana with Australian stories...from bluegrass to blues, it's a string-driven thing, with regular sidemen Jake Lardot’s guitar & John Lee's fiddle & mandolin underpinned by Pierre Luniere's double bass, driving the narrative heart of Mark's lyrical journeying.
