Arizona dad tripping balls on weed incinerates family dog, says 'Devil made me do it'

GOODYEAR, ARIZONA — A father of four admitted to sacrificing family dog after dispute with daughter over her t-shirt.

Patrick Zane Thompson, 42, owner of a barbecue truck business, was arrested after exhibiting erratic behavior when responding officers found him lying on a sidewalk in Goodyear, Arizona. Thompson was reportedly saying, "do it for God" and that the "Devil made me do it."

Investigators later discovered that upon arriving home, Thompson saw his 17-year-old daughter wearing a t-shirt he associated with the devil. He told his daughter to change shirts and took the "evil" tee to a large BBQ traveler, which he runs his Raging Cajun Smoking Barbecue business from, and burned the shirt in the smoker.

According to Thompson's daughter and wife, the irate man then returned inside the home and told his family, including all four minor children, that he needed to now make a male sacrifice. His choices were between himself, his 6-year-old son or the family dog, a white 15-pound poodle.

After managing to grab hold of the dog, Thompson later admitted to police that he strangled and snapped the dog's neck. He then said he needed to complete the sacrifice by putting the dog into a "lake of fire." Police later found the dog in the smoker.

The man then proceeded to pray in front of his house, where officers found him. Thompson told police that he had smoked marijuana and was suffering from an "episode" in which he believed the "Lord was going to kill him for what he had done."

According to police, Thompson's wife of 21 years asked that he be charged for the safety of the children.

Following the incident, the story went viral on social media. Thompson's barbecue truck business was roasted on social media, with many posting comments on the company's Facebook alluding to the cooking of dogs.

A post, which was signed by his "oldest daughter," read, "We aren't going to let this situation get to us were not gonna let the deceiver the devil get us down we gonna look up with our heads held high and have a smile on our faces because Jesus is the one that can protect him, guide him, unconditionally love, he has the one that has the last say what happens."

The Facebook page has since been deleted.
