China Boy - Ernie Carson

China Boy – Ernie Carson
Isn’t it amazing how famous jazz musicians perform on large stages at jazz festivals around the world but at home often have to fall back on little sessions at openings of shopping malls and the likes. We see Ernie Carson and his wonderful jazz quartet trying to start a tune and someone in the back slams a shopping cart in his place. But ..... the show goes on. Ernie steps it in and the band plays on with full excitement and quality.
The great musicians are of course Ernie on cornet together with Herman Foretich clarinet, Michael Dargan “Peanuts” Fitch banjo and Hal “Shorty” Johnson tuba. This was taped in Atlanta in the mid seventies where Ernie lived from 1972 till 1995. Today he lives and performs around his former hometown Portland, Oregon.
