The Pann African Film Fest kicks off 2014 with the 5th annual African American Film Critics Association Award show. AAFCA, founded in 2003, recognizes films with universal appeal to the African-American community and also honors the work of filmmakers and actors of African descent.

Forrest Whitaker, Ava Duvernay, David Talbert, Orlando Jones, Salli Richardson, Louis Gossett Jr., Niecy Nash and many others were in attendance, but 12 Years a Slave and Blue Caprice were the talk on the red carpet.

Our associate, LaCora Stephens, was at the Taglyan Cultural Complex to catch up with producer and actor Isaiah Washington who discussed his "quiet support" for new comer Tequan Richmond in the film that took Sundance by storm, Blue Caprice.
