Moma’s Gone Goodbye – Black Bottom Jazzband 2007

After many months of preparations we managed on September 28 2007 to get 6 musicians together who had not played with each other for about 55 years. In our highschool days in Bussum, the Netherlands we had formed our first jazz band. Now in 2007, two members came from Canada, one from France and the others still lived in the Netherlands.
For repertoire we had choosen some of the material we had played then.
The reunists are Bob Erwig, cornet and Arent Nieuwkamp, clarinet from Canada, Rob Herwig, piano from France and Eduard Rahusen, trombone and Wim de Vries, bass from the Netherlands. Our other original member, banjoist Jack Vincken, from Canada could not make it and was replaced by the very capable Ari van Mensvoort.
It became a long and wonderful day. After recording during the day and a great dinner with the bandmembers and friends we had decided to play a concert in the evening followed by jam sessions of old music friends. In the posted tune with our live crowd some of us did not have all their chops in full control any longer, but the all over atmosphere made it into a magic evening.
