Zon-O-Phone 7 inch record #J-9368, "Rocked in the Cradle of the Deep", sung by Edward Franklin, bass (apparently a pseudonym for Emilio de Gogorza), with piano (circa 1901).
Update: I have learned from George F. Paul that the Universal Talking Machine CORP. ( not Company, as I had mistakenly posted), was the sales agent for the National Gram-O-Phone Company since 1899.. Therefore, this recording is more likely to be from late 1900 to late 1901.
I also am not entirely sure about the recording speed: I fiddled with it for a long time, until I settled on a speed that seemed plausible. So if it sounds out of tune, my apologies.
Played on a Victor E 'Monarch Junior' from 1902/3.
