Fred Astaire & Paulette Goddard in Second Chorus (1940)

Named the 5th Greatest Male Star of All Time by the American Film Institute, Fred Astaire had a career as a leading man that lasted decades. Astaire is one of the best dancers in the history of film, and unquestionably the most influential. Second Chorus is one of Astaire’s finest films, since he’s still very much in his prime. Also, it doesn’t hurt that the absolutely stunning Paulette Goddard is the leading lady. Because of their natural chemistry both romantically and in dance numbers, Astaire and Goddard light up the screen. Second Chorus overflows with dancing, love, glitz, and passion that is not to be missed.
