Holy Grail" has arrived, and were breaking down what critics are saying and giving you our two cents on this hip hop masterpiece. Hey music Internet friends, thanks for finding ClevverMusic with your music news online. Today July 9th Jay-Zs "Magna Carta... Holy Grail" album is officially on the market for purchase, after being announced at an NBA Finals game just last month. The hip hop album has seen a massive Samsung brand backing, tons of TV ads, a scavenger hunt for the track list and even a Twitter Q&A from Jay himself. Not to mention all the big name collaborations on the record including wifey Beyoncé, BFF Justin Timberlake, Rick Ross, Frank Ocean and various featured producers. But 43-year-old is now a Dad and a sports agent, so how is the album being received? MTVs Rob Markman pointed out the lyrical staying power of the album, "It all sounds great, but subsequent listens uncover thoughtful commentary and societal observation, lending to the albums replay value." While Chris Richards of The Washington Post wasnt very optimistic saying, "...musically and lyrically, "Magna Carta" is one of Jay-Zs blandest offerings. Over 16 joylessly professional tracks, our hero laces up his sneakers for his bazillion-thousandth victory lap around the hip-hop universe...Its the sound of champagne being sprayed around an empty locker room." A little harsh if you ask us. USA Today was more forgiving stating, "The music was more than worth the wait." Ok, so whats our take? Were pleased and you should be too! Jay gives us an eclectic bunch of tracks and beats. He ponders the value of money in "Picasso, Baby", contemplates himself as a Father in "JAY Z Blue", plays with electronic beats in fashion inspired song "Tom Ford", and raps about water with "Frank Ocean" on "Oceans". Our favorite songs on the record include Justin Timberlake collaboration "Holy Grail" which kinda sounds like a hip hop Colplay song. We also admire Jay and Beyoncé getting together for tender love song "Part II" where Bey sings about love making and partnership. Overall, a cool and confident Jay-Z brings his family, friends, wealth to the music which is honest and we respect that. We think "Magna Carta... Holy Grail" will continue to be talked about and produce some big hits, however no word yet on what the first single will be. Enough of me talking, whats your favorite song on the album?! Tell us! Thanks so much for watching our review here on ClevverMusic. Im your music host Misty Kingma see you soon with more music news every day.
