Want to become a full-time ninja? Japan's looking to hire six of them

NAGOYA, JAPAN — Japan's Aichi prefecture is hiring six full-time ninjas in an effort to promote tourism in the region.

While ninjas were once used for covert missions and considered masters of assassination, today their responsibilities are much less dangerous. Instead of engaging in deadly combat, the ninjas will receive a one-year contract to perform acrobatic skills, make media appearances and pose for pictures with tourists, reported the Japan Times.

Applicants need to be at least 18 years old, be physically fit and demonstrate acrobatic skills. According to the BBC, Japanese skills are not required, although knowledge of Japanese and English is preferred. Applicants need to have a Japanese working visa and a residence card because they'll need to work in Japan for a year.

Aspiring ninjas need to send in their resume by today, March 22, and a select number will be later asked to demonstrate their skills. Once the final candidates are chosen, they'll then undergo a one month training course.

Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has pledged to increase tourism in the lead-up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
