STOKE-ON-TRENT, UK — Imagine waking up to find your face covered in blood … because you’re bleeding from your eyes. Terrifying, no? That is what 17-year-old Marnie-Rae Harvey from the UK is going through right now.

The teen girl from Stoke-on-Trent bleeds out of her eyes, ears, nose, gums, scalp, fingernails and even tongue.

It started in 2013 when she began coughing up blood. Then in 2015, Her parents called an ambulance after she woke up with bleeding eyes and her face covered in blood. One day, while out shopping, she suddenly began bleeding profusely from her eyes and ears and was again rushed to hospital. Doctors call bleeding tears haemolacria, but they don't know what's causing it. Marnie-Rae was found to have a weakened immune system but nothing more.

As you might imagine, bleeding from your eyes or ears is a difficult condition to manage, especially as Marnie-Rae says people make comments and even try to snap pictures of her.

Mystified doctors are testing a drug called Prostap 3 that shuts down the womb, but the drug leaves Marnie-Rae with an over 60% chance she’ll be infertile. It’s a heavy price she’s willing to pay, but it will be a month or so before results are known. Until then, this poor teen girl has essentially put her life on hold until someone figures out what’s wrong.
