Powerade, the official sports drink of the 2012 London Olympics, developed a better way of rehydrating as it unveiled its new drink, Powerade ion4, to accompany the Philippine contingent throughout the competition. Brand manager TJ Sonza in an interview during the founding celebration of the International Olympic Committee tells us more: "In physical activities like sports especially in the Olympics, athletes work hard, they train a lot and during the competition they sweat and when you sweat you lose more than just water. And when you compete in games like the Olympics, you have to make sure that your body is complete and nothing is missing in your game. Other sports drinks they have two ions, Powerade ion4 has four. It's able to replace the four primary ions typically lost when you sweat and these are sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium." Replenishing is one thing, rehydrating is another. She added, "It also provides electrolytes and gives carbohydrates as fuel for your working muscles and in that way you are able to power through all the challenges and achieve your goals."
