On Monday, two Florida officers rescued a leatherback sea turtle found tangled in a crab trap.

Leatherback sea turtles love to swim freely in the waters, but traps and obstacles placed by humans are often their downfall.

On Monday, two Jacksonville Sheriff’s officers rescued one of the creatures from that exact sort of trouble.

The 9-foot animal’s neck had become hopelessly tangled in the rope of a buoyed crab trap.

Every time the turtle attempted to dive deeper into the waters, the line tightened.

Though it took a few tries, authorities were able to cut the leatherback free.

The turtle then quickly vacated the area.
