Laura Flanders Show: Dark Matter - Trans Lives Matter

Conversation and poetry on gender identity, LGBT politics, assimilation, and the "transgender tipping point." Dark Matter is a transgender South Asian performance art duo comprised of Alok Vaid-Menon and Janani Balasubramanian. They have sold out theaters and art spaces around the world with their brilliant, personal, funny and moving poetry that explores race, gender, LGBT rights, internationalism, liberation and much more, including a fierce critique of what they see as mainstream LGBT politics. Alok Vaid-Menon also works with The Audre Lorde Project, and Janani Balasubramanian is the primary organizer at the Queer Detainee Empowerment Project and is a contributing writer at Black Girl Dangerous, currently working on a science fiction novel.
