Vox amPlug 2 Review - Vox amPlug 2 AC30 Demo
Thank you for watching my “Vox amPlug 2 AC30 Review” video. I actually tested the regular Vox amplug AC (the first edition) about two years ago. I was extremely satisfied with the sound and overall quality of this mini headphone guitar amp. So, I thought it would be cool to now check the successor version the AP2AC30.
Here are a couple of interesting facts about the Vox amplug 2 models. Most notably, the plug can be swiveled around into several positions of your choice. This is not only convenient but also actually a necessity because with the regular amplugs there was always an issue with getting stuck at the tone/volume dials of my guitars. Now, it’s very easy to adjust the angle. Also, it allows for the tucking the plug away so it aligns behind the frame of the device, in other words, it doesn’t stick out anymore. Since were are speaking of the plug, people ask me all the time whether the Vox amplug mini guitar headphone amps fit on a Stratocaster. The answer is Yes, they do. And this is true for all amplugs, first and second edition.
Also, I received many emails and comments to my Vox amPlug review videos where viewers inquire whether or not the device can be used in combination with guitar pedals. Again, yes is the answer. But not only that, you can also connect the amplugs to your regular amp (if your amp has a line-in) or cabinet.
So, with all that being said, let’s now look at the main differences between the Vox amPlug 2 AC30 and the regular Vox amPlug AC30 of the first generation.
AP2AC30 comes with additional effects such as chorus, delay and reverb. Each one of these settings has three different settings. All effects sound very authentic and while I’m really not into the whole chorus thing, I do appreciate the clear and crisp delay and reverb. On top of that, the device allows for two tremolo settings.
Another very important feature of the Vox amPlug 2 AC30 is the fact that the power on/off switch has been replaced with a button. Along with that, the new Vox amplug 2 versions have an automated power off feature. After 30 minutes of inactivity the accessory will power off automatically. This has obviously a positive effect on the battery life. Speaking of battery life, all Vox amplug mini amps use a set of AAA batteries (one set comes with the purchase of the device).
What has not changed are the three dials, namely tone, volume and gain. Also, the amplug 2 devices, just like their predecessors, have and AUX input to connect your iPhones or MP3 players.
All in all, I must say that I am very impressed with the Vox amPlug 2 AC30. The sound is unique and as far as I can tell, pretty authentic. The additional features add a lot more range and possibilities. The price is extremely reasonable considering what you get for your money.
That’s it, if you have any questions, please leave a comment below the video. I hope you found my Vox amPlug 2 AC30 review helpful and I look forward to the next review. By the way, next on the list is a thorough review of the Vox amplug 2 METAL!
