Game of Thrones Lena Headey nude walk of Shame was Filmed by Body double Game of Thrones Season finale shocks fans
Lena Headey, 41, may have chosen to use a body double for her nude walk of shame scene on the Game of Thrones season finale, but it was just as difficult for her to film the horrific scene. The British actress dished on filming the scene in a new interview, revealing how emotionally traumatizing it was for her. Nothing is worse than walking naked with a scabbed head through an angry mob shouting obscene and vulgar things at you. That was exactly Lena’s character, Cersei’s, fate on the shocking finale. For one of the first times, we actually felt sympathy for Cersei as she experienced true horror and devastation and Lena felt for her character as she reached her lowest point.
“It’s not hard when people are screaming at you and you look like s–t and you’re being f–-king humiliated to figure out how that would feel,” Lena tells Entertainment Weekly in a new interview. “There’s a part of you that’s f–king terrified. I can’t even imagine people wanting your blood. Cersei has done wrong, but she doesn’t really deserve this.” Though Lena chose to use a body double for the scene, it was awful to watch her experience the painful emotions in tons of closeups. The hardest part about filming the scene for Lena was that the walk of shame is based on an actual medieval practice, and that public violence against women is still done today.
“I don’t think anyone deserves that treatment,” Lena continued. “She’s been beaten and starved and humiliated. She thinks when she comes out and confesses that this is it even when she’s on her knees [confessing to the High Sparrow], she’s partly lying. She thinks she’s good to go. She has no idea what’s coming when she walks out to the steps, or that they’re going to shave her hair off like Aslan.”
As for Cersei’s future on Game of Thrones? We’ll have to stay tuned, but Lena hinted, “I think she’s got some people to kill before she’s done.”
