The Virgo Super Kings might have lost their first game of the MCL but they have a lot of lessons to learn from their debut game. The most important were to bat in for a longer period of time despite knowing the fact that the Dubai wicket behaves mysteriously at night.

Azhar Mehmood set a wonderful example for his teammates with his magnificent 51 that was hit at a very crucial time for the Super Kings. Azhar came down the batting order and he was into action pretty early. But it was not that he started smoking boundaries off his bat from the word go.

Azhar stalled in first knowing the entire facts about the pitch. He was cousin taking his singles and doubles and when he felt settled only then he went for some big shots and cleared the fence all the way thrice in his innings.

It was a mature knock from the right hand Azhar who is known for his all-round abilities in t20 cricket. Azhar 51 changed a lot of things in the Super Kings bench. They were 6 down and at one stage it looked as if getting to 100 will be a tough job for them but Azhar took the to over 100. Also, the Super Kings lost the game by just 26 runs so all they needed was another good innings and they could have won the whole game instead of losing it. Azhar hit 3 sixes in his innings. He was absolutely fantastic to watch last night in Dubai.

Azhar Mehmood who is now a regular member of the T20 leagues played all around the globe has started his new Venture as a part of Virgo Super Kings in MCL. Azhar who has taken his retirement from international cricket was long gone from the Pakistan national camp after 2007 World cup.

However, he never left playing cricket and was consistently played the county and T20 cricket. Yesterday he played his first game in the MCL and as always Azhar was quite impressive with both the bat and ball.

He picked up Gilchrist in his first over in the first inning of the game and later when his team flattened against the brilliant pace and spin bowling of the Sagittarius Strikers, Azhar played a heroic knock of 51, right at the end.

He was blistering sixes and fours and made it look all too easy for his teammates who all struggled to a coup against the pace of Shane Bind and spin of Daniel Vettori. Azhar hit some towering sixes and blazing fours.

However, all his efforts went in vain as Super Kings lost the game by 26 runs. This might sound like a close game but it was not at one stage when Super Kings were 6 down for nothing on the board. It was Azhar Mehmood who came down ad resisted in his own style. The best things about Azhar innings was that it showed all the other players that if you play sensible cricket then the Dubai wicket offer runs. Azhar was simply magnificent last night.
