ISIS kangaroo suicide bomb part of teen's plans for terror attack in Australia

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA — A Melbourne teenager allegedly plotted to pack a kangaroo with explosives and set the animal loose on police officers in an ISIS-style attack.

Sevdet Ramadan Besim, 19, pleaded not guilty to four terror charges before magistrates on Thursday, so will face trial at the Victoria Supreme Court, the Age reported.

Australian federal police allege Besim outlined his plans for the attack during online conversations with an unnamed 14-year-old boy in England, who was last later sentenced to life in prison for his role in the plot.

Police claim Besim wrote about atrocities he planned to commit on Anzac Day last year. Anzac Day is held on April 25, when Australia and New Zealand remember their war dead.

Besim allegedly wrote that he would paint a kangaroo with an ISIS symbol, pack it with C4 explosives and set it loose on police officers, according to the Age.

He also stands accused of plotting to run down and behead a police officer, before launching a suicide attack.

"I'd love to take out some cops," the teenage jihadi allegedly wrote to his firebrand British pen pal.

Besim was arrested on April 18 last year — one week before Anzac Day — when police held five Melbourne teenagers on terror charges in a series of raids and seized knives and swords.

He faces charges relating to Internet searches and communications carried out with the intention of preparing for a terrorist attack, according to the Australian.

However, prosecutors withdrew a fifth, more serious charge, punishable by a maximum sentence of life in prison, the Age reported.

The British teenager who communicated with Besim, now aged 15, was sentenced to life in prison the UK in October for his role in the plot, according to the BBC.

The teenager from Blackburn in northwest England will serve at least five years for inciting terrorism and would only be released if he was no longer considered a terrorist threat, the BBC reported.
