CAMARILLO, CALIFORNIA — A 23-year-old man was shot dead by police after charging a deputy with a knife in Camarillo, California on Wednesday.
The man has been identified as Bryant Neil Duncan. He reportedly took a cellphone from a 7-Eleven convenience store and used it to call 911 to report a crime about to happen, adding that he wanted to be killed by police, Ventura County Star reported.
A single deputy responded and pulled his vehicle up to Carmen and Daily Drives, where Duncan was located. As shown in video footage of the incident, Duncan marched toward the deputy with a knife in his hand while the deputy tried to keep his distance. The deputy then opened fire on Duncan, who was struck by the bullets and later died at a hospital.
