1954 REAP THE WILD WIND RE-ISSUE TRAILER - JOHN WAYNE
Re-issue trailer to Cecil B. DeMille's star-studded, sprawling sea saga, REAP THE WILD WIND (1942) with starring Paulette Goddard, Ray Milland, John Wayne and Susan Hayward.
John Wayne was not Cecil B. DeMille's choice to play the fallible Captain Jack Stuart the Technicolor sea saga, REAP THE WILD WIND. One source says Gary Cooper, who had starred in DeMille's previous picture, NORTHWEST MOUNTED POLICE, was the director's initial selection, but Coop's commitment to producer Samuel Goldwyn for PRIDE OF THE YANKEES prevented the cast. Another source claims Errol Flynn was sought for the role, but Jack Warner refused to loan out his star.
According to IMDB: "Although John Wayne was pleased to have been cast in such an important movie, he was unhappy with his part and once complained he was only there to make Ray Milland look like a 'real man'. "
