Rhythm King Paul and his Gang 1992

Paul Bocciolone Strandberg-cornet, vocal; Dymitr Markiewicz-trombone; Lars-Erik Strom-clarinet; Dennis Johnson-banjo; Frans Sjostrom-bassax. Hungary spring 1992.

Following is Paul’s own comment regarding this clip:

It was very early in the spring of 1992. The weak rays of sunshine tried vainly to melt the ice in southern Sweden while the five members of “Paul and his Gang” at a few days notice squeezed themselves, their instrument and as few other things as possible into the trombone players car, a black Mercedes type limousine. The tour went east through more winter landscapes in Poland and Czechoslovakia to finally reach Hungary where the band felt a hearty welcome at the Bohem Ragtime Festival.

The band entered the stage at the Bohem Ragtime Festival after staying up all night together with Joe Muranyi, the famous clarinettist, turning in and out every aspect in the Bix Beiderbecke story. Unfortunately Muranyi didn't make it that day but Paul and the boys felt inspired to pay their tribute to Bix.
