1958 commercial for the Ideal Toy Atomic Cannon.
The design was based on the U.S. Army's M65 280mm Heavy Cannon, popularly known as "The Atomic Cannon. The massive weapon could lob a 15 kilton tactical nuclear artillery shell 20 miles. Only 20 of the 85 ton weapon were manufactured, with the majority being deployed in West Germany and six in Okinawa.
The M65 was operational from 1953 to 1963 before being replaced by cheaper, more flexible 8" howitzers and tactical nuclear-armed missiles such as Corporal, LaCrosse and Honest John.
