Brazil: 5 Black Youth Shot Dead by Police in Rio

A car in which five black youth traveled was riddled by 50 police bullets in the Costa Barros area of Rio de Janeiro on Sunday. All five were killed. Family members accuse the police of racism and conspiracy to cover up the crime. They see the attack as the latest in an undeclared war on poor, mostly black people living in favelas. Four policemen have been arrested and are accused of planting a pistol at the crime scene to back their claim of having come under fire, a version that has been disproved. “They were black, from the favelas.. That is why our sons were killed,” said one mother. teleSUR
