Mexico: Police Clash with Dissident Teachers in Oaxaca

Several thousand teachers and education workers took to the streets in Oaxaca to protest a new education reform law that requires them to take a series of examinations that they consider unfair. The National Coordinating Council of Educations Workers warns that the evaluations will lead to massive layoffs while doing nothing to improve the quality of education. When dissident teachers began to tear down barricades erected to block them from protesting outside the examination center, they were attacked with teargas. teleSUR
