Brazil: Mining Disaster Pollutes River, Kills 11

Two damns burst at an iron ore mine in southern Brazil, massively contaminating the Rio Doce river and resulting in 11 deaths. The resulting flood waters left the village of Bento Rodrigues buried under mud. Many are blaming the disaster on Samarco, which is the Brazilian mining company in charge of the dams. The company is a joint venture between the mining giants Vale of Brazil and BHP Billiton of Australia. teleSUR
