Peru: Health Workers Call Indefinite Strike

Public sector health workers have called an indefinite strike after the failure of authorities to respond to their demands for higher wages and better working conditions. A particular grievance involves the government's hiring of 15,000 "temporary" maintenance and other non-medical workers in the public health care sector who do not receive the workplace benefits of "permanent" employees.
