Linton Kwesi Johnson is a legendary character, and the great quality of his dub poetry in music strongly contributed to spread Jamaican culture worldwide. His poetry is far from Rasta mysticism, but close to cultural pride, to the dignity conquered by a neglected and oppressed culture while his music is the deep militant English dub of the seventies.

His incredible albums of that period, "Dread, Beat & Blood", "Bass Culture" and "Forces of Victory" are some of the most vibrant evidences of a turbolent and controversial for the West Indian community in London, fought by the National Front racists and harshly repressed by the police, as well as shattered inside by violence caused by emargination and desperation.

Linton Kwesi Johnson represents what we love the most in reggae music, and we are very proud of having him again at Rototom Sunsplash!
