SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — A 32-year-old Texas woman and three of her accomplices are behind bars following a violent kidnapping said to be motivated by revenge. M
Mercedes Salazar's brother Angel was found dead in an abandoned apartment building in August 2015. She came to believe that her brother's ex-girlfriend had something to do with his death and hatched a plot along with three accomplices to kidnap the 25-year-old ex-girlfriend, who was not identified.
The victim was drugged and tied to a chair at a home near Lackland Air Force Base on San Antonio's West Side. There, for a reported period of three days, the suspects threatened the woman with death and physical harm, cut her hair, injected her with heroin, forced her to ingest pills and also reportedly performed some sort of blood ritual after drawing blood from the victim's palm.
On September 9, all but one of the kidnappers left the home to run errands and it was at this point the victim managed to convince the lone kidnapper to untie her and allow her to use the bathroom.
After the kidnapper nodded off, the victim managed to call for help and police stormed the property after hearing screams for help. When police entered the house they discovered the remaining kidnapper holding a knife and scissors while threatening the victim. Police later arrested Salazar as well as two more accomplices.
Authorities say they will investigate whether the victim was indeed connected to Angel Salazar's slaying, but also said that investigation would not affect the prosecution of Salazar and her accomplices who have been charged with aggravated kidnapping as well as other charges.
