Granville Bantock was a near contemporary to Elgar, yet his music found fewer acceptance and recognition, only increasing recently. His works are concerned with Graeco-Roman Antiquity, such as his tone poem The Witch of Atlas. Based upon a poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley, it deals with the mystic story of a Lady-Witch living in the Atlas Mountains and about her mischievous spells depicted within fine musical gestures.
Granville Bantock fue un contemporáneo de Elgar, pero su música encontró menos aceptación y reconocimiento, los cuales solo ha alcanzado hasta ahora. Sus obras muestran una afinidad con la antigüedad grecorromana, tales como el poema sinfónico La Bruja del Atlas. Basada sobre un poema de Percy Bysshe Shelley, trata sobre la historia mística de una bruja que vivía en los Montes Atlas y sobre sus maliciosos conjuros interpretados en finos colores musicales.
