The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government in Delhi has alleged that Lt Governor Najeeb Jung tried to exert pressure on Home Minister Satyendar Jain to grant parole to former Hayana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala. The AAP govt is accusing the LG of going out of his way for a man who has been convicted for 10 years.under the Prevention of Corruption Act. "LG pressurized the Home Minister, asked to give parole citing he was a politician, citing that he had been national president for five terms and other such flimsy reasons. The fact of the matter is the honourable Delhi LG is trying to shield a corrupt person and give benefit and comfort to a person who has been pronounced as guilty by the Highest Courts of India. Now the LG needs to answer what his interests in this entire episode," AAP member Raghav Chadha told TIMES NOW. Delhi lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung strongly rejected AAP charges of pressurising Delhi home minister Satyendra Jain to grant parole to Chautala. "The decision should be above politics. How can anyone say I'm going out of my way for Chautala," LG Najeeb Jung said reacting to the charges, according to TIMES NOW. "I'd prefer to get opinion of board of doctors," he said, adding, "Neither me nor they (Delhi govt) are medical experts." On Wednesday, the Delhi LG's office issued a statement and clarified that Chautala's parole application was rejected by it on October 5 and that no further parole application was made by the former Haryana CM after that.
