Argentina: Scioli Gains in Polls Before Sunday's Election
  • 9 years ago
Daniel Scioli, candidate of the ruling left-of-center Front for Victory in Sunday's Argentine presidential elections, surged ahead in opinion polls, with more than 40% voter support and 10% above his closest rival. If the opinion poll numbers are ratified at the ballot box, there will be no need for a second round of voting. Scioli pledged that, if elected, he would exempt those earning under US$3,100 a month from paying income tax. His closest rival, Mauricio Macri, is running on a neoliberal platform. teleSUR
