Bolivia: Referendum Set to Decide Morales’ Possible Reelection

A date has been set for a referendum on the possible re-election of Bolivian President Evo Morales. Vice President Alvaro Garcia confirmed on Wednesday that Bolivians will decide next February 21 whether on not the want Morales to run for a fourth mandate. First the Constitutional Court must approve the procedure, as well as the questions to be asked. The Bolivian Constitution can be altered by two means: either a grassroots referendum called by 20% of the electorate, or legislative reform with a 2/3 vote that would also lead to a referendum. teleSUR
