Paraguay: Curuguaty Massacre Trial Postponed Again

For the 10th time, the trial of campesinos arrested following the Curuguaty massacre has been postponed. In June 2012 police moved to expel landless campesinos in the northern Paraguayan municipality of Curuguaty. In the ensuing clashes, 11 campesinos were killed and 16 arrested and six police lay dead. Shortly thereafter, democratically elected president Fernando Lugo was ousted in a parliamentary coup, with one of the allegations against him being that he was promoting an uprising in the countryside. teleSUR
