Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa addressed the last session of the ELAP Summit held on Wednesday in Quito, where leaders discussed the challenges facing the region. The meeting came five years after a national police coup attempt against the Correa administration. Correa denounced destabilization attempts in Ecuador and across the region, as well as misinformation campaigns in the news media. Also present were representatives from Venezuela, Ecuador, El Salvador and other progressive countries, as well as representatives from the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo Group and the Cuban Five.
