Argentina: State Participation in Pension Funds Boosts Profitibility

The Argentine state is participating in 46 private pension fund managers through the Sustainability Guarantee Fund, administered by the National Social Security Agency (ANSES). Workers' pension funds, nationalized in 2008 and managed by the ANSES, have seen their assets grow by 500%. On Wednesday, Congress approved a bill to establish an autonomous regulatory agency to ensure that the state's equity in these companies not be used for financial speculation but to promote development.
