In less than a week, Mumbai will welcome its favourite God, Lord Ganesh, with dhoom-dham. The maximum city will be gripped by the infectious religious fervour to celebrate the annual 11-day Ganeshotsav festival, that starts on September 17. Glittering decorations, foot-tapping beats and chants of Ganpati Bappa Moriya will be heard in every street of the city. The Parel workshop in Central Mumbai is buzzing with murtikars (idol-artists) and people swarming in to purchase the idols. Shridhar Kalsekar has been spending hours in making eco-friendly Ganpati idols. Different idols are at different stages of work with moulding, painting, ornament detail, design and drying going on.
