Silent Night, Evil Night/Black Christmas_pt.1 of 2

(1974) Christmas Eve, the night EVERYBODY should have gone home. Sorority sisters at a Canadian college who haven't left the campus for the holidays find themselves stalked by a killer with a penchant for, um, phoning it in. heh-heh-heh... A psychological horror less gory than slashers to come, but as chilling as one might expect from the Great White North--and four years BEFORE Mikey messed with everybody's HALLOWEEN (1978).

First released in the US as SILENT NIGHT, EVIL NIGHT, not to be confused with SILENT NIGHT, BLOODY NIGHT which came out around the same time; or with SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT, which came out a decade later; OR with BLACK CHRISTMAS which was an alternate name under which BLACK SABBATH (original title: I TRE VOLTI DELLA PAURA, "The Three Faces of Fear") was also released in 1963. Oh, and CHRISTMAS EVIL (1980) ain't even close! Remade in 2006, rather needlessly. Stick with the original.
