There is a house un New Orleans,
They call the "rising sun",
Its been the ruin of many poor boys,
And god I know I'm one,

My mother was a tailor,
She sew my new blue jeans,
My father was a gambling man,
Down in New Orleans.

The only thing a gambler needs,
Is a suitcase and a trunk,
The only time he's satisfied, is when
He's on the drunk.

Oh mother tell your children,
not to do what I have done -
Spend your lives in sin and misery,
In the "House of the Rising Sun"

One foot on the platform,
And the other foot on the train,
I'm going back to New Orleans,
To wear that ball and chain.

There is a house un New Orleans,
They call the "rising sun",
Its been the ruin of many poor boys,
And god I know I'm one,
