Cuba is celebrating the 62nd anniversary of the attack on the Moncada army barracks led by Fidel Castro. The date is considered the start of the Cuban Revolution and the revolutionary war that defeated the U.S.-backed Fulgencio Batista dictatorship on January 1, 1959. At the main ceremony President Raul Castro pointed to a new era in relations with the United States but called for an end to the blockade and the return of the Guantanamo Naval Base. teleSUR
