DCW appointment row: LG's consent important, says Barkha Shukla

Following the cancellation of Swati Maliwal’s appointment as the chief of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), former DCW chief Barkha Shukla Singh has said that Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung’s consent is important within the matter. "Every appointment needs to be constitutional and Kejriwal knows it well. He is not interested in working but fighting. Lieutenant Governor’s consent is important on this matter, LG has powers on this matter," said Barkha Shukla. Swati Maliwal, an advisor to the Chief Minister, was recently appointed as the new chief of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) by the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government. Lt Governor Najeeb Jung has asked for an explanation as to why his approval was not sought on the appointment.
