Mexico: Women Demand Measures to End Gender Based Violence

Women in Mexico State continue to demand the implementation of a widespread gender alert due to the staggering level of gender based violence recorded in the region. State governor Eruviel Avila recently declared an alert for only 11 municipalities, but this falls far short of what is needed say rights activists, who are also demanding a specialized women’s area in Attorney General’s Office and a holistic approach to guaranteeing gender equality.
