My philosophy as a producer is simple.... Listen... Commit to and understand the artist's vision, but know when to say "let's try turning left, or right, or a u turn." Knowing the difference between the creative and the chaos, and when to tweak one, and just hit record on the other.
Understanding a project as it stands, those are the primary colors.. Helping an artist fully realize the vision and not be afraid to take the back roads and mix in all the colors possible is what makes the finished painting.
Making records that live, breathe, have something to say, discover, change, bend, feel, THAT is everything to me... Seeing an artist connect to their songs in a different way, or exactly as they heard it on some distant night when it was conceived.
As a producer, studio owner, and recording artist, I understand the importance of a comfortable and creative recording environment. I've spent countless hours in stale "dentist office" like studios, which compelled me to create an inviting and inspiring atmosphere at my own studios, Crown City Studios in Pasadena, and London Bridge Studio in Seattle (alongside my partners Geoff Ott and Jonathan Plum.)
Countless legendary records (some that inspired me to begin making music to begin with) were recorded at London Bridge, including Mother Love Bone, Pearl Jam - Ten, Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Blind Melon, Fleet Foxes, Death Cab For Cutie, and so many more. I can't express how honored I am to be a link in the chain of this amazing historical space, and how committed I am to preserving it's history, and it's future in both the global and Seattle music scene.
