10.000 Hydrangea-Ajisai at Yatadera in Yamatokōriyama, Nara.

Yesterday, during the annual rainy season here in Kansai, I visited the Yatadera Temple (矢田寺) in Yamatokōriyama (大和郡山市), Nara-ken. The Yatadera Temple is famous for its many beautiful petals of Hydrangea. There are some 10.000 bushes and 60 varieties to enjoy. The Yatadera Temple is situated on a slope of Yatayama and boosts a 88 Jizō Bosatsu (地蔵菩薩) pilgrim path along the mountain slope.
There is a path that leads you through a web of Hydrangea of different colours. There is a small stream and the path goes up and down. Yatadera is amongst the three most beautiful spots to enjoy the ajisai or Hydrangea in English!
