EcoATM Kiosks Offer Instant Cash for Old Electronics - The Minute 3BL Media.mp4

Is your basement, closet, or desk drawer full of old, outdated cell phones, tablets, and MP3 players? You’re not alone. There’s an estimated 422 million idle or inactive mobile devices in consumers’ homes, out of which only 99 million will be recycled this year, according to Compass Intelligence data.

Now, there’s a new service to help recycle these electronics and deliver up to $400 in instant cash. EcoATM is an automated kiosk system that accepts unwanted devices in exchange for cash on the spot. Since starting in 2009, EcoATM has bought back four million unused devices. It puts out the bought-back products for bid to companies that recycle and refurbish. Those that can’t be re-purposed are responsibly recycled through certified eWaste reclamation facilities. In 2014, the company doubled the number of its kiosks. It now operates 1,890 in 42 states. The EcoATM automated kiosks are conveniently located in high-traffic locations such as shopping malls and grocery chains, including Kroger, Safeway, Stop and Shop, Albertson’s, and in select Walmart stores.
