Corrupt politicians responsible for plights of Karachiites: Pasban
Protest demo against hydrant mafia occupying Eidgah ground
Karachi, June 07: Pasban e Pakistan has demanded action against the organized mafia that is grabbing parks, playgrounds and amenity plots of the city, adding that the corrupt rulers and opposition are equally responsible for the plights of Karachiites.
According to details, a large number of the residents of Nazimabad No 3 along with e Pakistan Pasban activists staged a protest demo on the main road of Nazimabad against illegal occupation of the Eidgah Ground by the hydrant mafia. They demanded vacating the ground from water thieves, hydrant mafia and land grabbers. Pasban local bodies’ committee member Javad Iqbal Sheerazi, Umaid Ali Qazi, Abdul Rehman, Basheer Khan, Jumma Bhai, Anwar Bhai and other were also present.
Addressing the demonstrators, Pasban e Pakistan vice president Abdul Hakim said the playground should be allowed to remain playgrounds and not the dens of water thieves and hydrant mafia. He said the provincial government and opposition are equally responsible for the problems of Karachi. He said the government is fully backing the corrupt officers of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC). He said the KWSB first stopped the supply of water through pipelines to create an artificial water crisis. When the citizens took to the streets, the government started its game of benefiting the water tanker mafia, while the opposition fleeced people by holding so-called protests. He said in fact both the government and opposition are hand in glove to torment the people of Karachi.
Pasban leader said a powerful hydrant mafia has illegally occupied the Eidgah Ground of Nazimabad number 3 and is busy stealing underground water. He said the citizens have been complaining for last one month and they have given several applications to the city administration and the related departments but in vain. He said the city administration and police are not taking any action against the hydrant mafia, which shows that this mafia is running under their patronage.
He said the corrupt and unholy nexus of the provincial government and opposition could only be broken with the establishment of a new province. He said the new province would help solve the problems of Karachi as only the presence of common man in assembly can result in the solution to the problems of poor masses.
The protestors demanded to get the Eidgah ground vacated from the hydrant mafia. They said steps should be taken to the water thieves to resolve the ongoing water crisis in the city.
