MALAGA (Euroleague) - Spain internationals Berni Rodriguez and Carlos Cabezas were on Wednesday preparing for a very important Euroleague game at home against Maccabi Tel Aviv. Victory for the Spanish team would secure first place in Group A and allow them to avoid CSKA Moscow, Regal Barcelona and Tau Ceramica in the Top 16.
Berni and Cabezas captured the gold medal with Spain at the 2006 FIBA World Championship and silver at EuroBasket 2007 while last summer, Berni competed with Spain at the Beijing Games and won a silver following one of the best gold-medal games in Olympic history against Team USA. Both spoke to FIBA.coms Jeff Taylor ahead of the big clash with Maccabi, with Berni admitting that his former Unicaja Malaga coach Sergio Scariolo was a deserving candidate to fill the coaching vacancy of Spain.
