Cho Hyo-eun is Korea’s one and only bookbinding artist that adds value and breathes new life into worn-out books. She repairs and reassembles old books with over 50 tools and, if necessary, over 100 procedures. The design and method of bookbinding vary depending on the number of pages and its usage. For instance, Bradel binding is a style of bookbinding with a hollow back, which allows people to open books at a 180-degree angle, while the reliure a mors ouverts, stab stitch bookbinding, lashes the holes near the spine together with a needle and thread. Beyond just giving a beautiful, practical touch to books, Cho enhances their value with her designs. Through her artistry, book lovers are able to feel the joy of possessing one-of-a-kind books forever.
