Twin bombings kill at least 11 in western Iraq

Two bombs exploded near a checkpoint in Iraq's western city of Ramadi killing at least 11 on Friday, according to Reuters.

The attack targeted a checkpoint manned by members of the Sahwa, a government-backed Sunni militia. The first device, a magnetic "sticky bomb", was attached to the car of a senior officer. As police and bystanders gathered around the wreckage, a second bomb went off. According to hospital officials, at least 22 people were wounded in the attack.

The attack came on the same day a series of other bombs near a bakery, at a funeral and at a football stadium took the lives of an additional 12 people across the country.
