Honduras: Protests Demand President's Resignation

Honduras' opposition Libre Party has called for demonstrations in front of the country's congress to demand the resignation of President Juan Orlando Hernandez. Protests have been intensifying following local media reports that the country's social security and health care system had been funding the ruling National Party to the tune of US$100 million. The news follows a similar scandal under the previous presidential administration when an investigation revealed that the system's directors had bilked it of US$350 million. The country's health system is currently experiencing a serious crisis due to lack of medicines and equipment as a result of inadequate funding. Gerardo Torres reports from Tegucigalpa. teleSUR
