Small plane carrying at least 14 passengers missing in northern Mexico

A small plane carrying at least 14 passengers went missing on Monday in the northern Mexican state of Baja California.
The plane took off from Loreto International Airport on Monday morning and was heading for Ciudad Constitucion, about 60 miles (97km) south of Loreto.
According to Reuters, the plane was carrying at least 14 passengers, and had fuel for a maximum of 2½ hours.
After the plane disappeared, efforts to contact the pilot failed.
Bad weather caused by approaching Tropical Storm Octave have hampered search efforts, reports say.
According to the head of Baja California Sur emergency services, Carlos Enriquez, "A Marine plane was going to go out but the conditions right now are no good for the search," Reuters reported.
Tropical Storm Octave is currently about 85 miles (135 km) southwest of Cabo San Lazaro on the Baja California peninsula, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.
David Korenfeld, director general of Mexico's National Water Commission, was quoted by BBC saying that the storm was expected to bring "significant rainfall" on Monday night into Tuesday.
Tropical Storms Manuel and Ingrid caused the death of more than a hundred people in Mexico last month.
