Colombian authorities seized 1.45 tonnes (3,197 lbs) of cocaine worth $43 million aboard a speedboat in the Caribbean following a tip from U.S. anti-drug agents, according to a report by the BBC.

Colombian officials announced the massive joint bust on Sunday, which followed a tip off from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

The speedboat departed the northern Colombian town of Manaure and was headed toward the Dominican Republic.

The boat was in international waters when it was intercepted by the Colombian navy.

Five suspects were detained, four Venezuelans and a Colombian.

The drugs allegedly belonged to Los Urabenos, a gang that operates in northern Colombia.

The gang is one of the groups categorized by Colombian authorities as a Bacrim, short for "bandas criminales," or criminal gangs.

The five suspects were transferred to Tampa, Florida and are currently being held in custody. They are expected to be charged with drug trafficking, according to the BBC.
